FUTURE DUB FROM ANCIENT SCOTLAND

About Us

  • The project fuses the mystical energy and instruments of traditional Scottish music and Gaelic song with the heavy, meditative, driving basslines digital dub music.

Music is one big conversation. And few projects live at the heart of it like An Dannsa Dub.

Born from a love of traditional Scottish folk, dub reggae and dance music, together they summon the joyous, communal energy of a cèilidh and a sound system session.

Their name comes from the Gaelic for “The Dub Dance”. Their sound celebrates the ancient Gaelic and West African rhythms that influenced reggae, which in turn, via sound system culture and dub’s pioneering remixes, produced modern dance music. Their live shows and recordings are a seamless, pulsating fusion of all this and more.

LIVE

LIVE DUB SHOW

An Dannsa Dub (The Dub Dance in Gaelic) is the brainchild of producers Tom Spirals (Flute, MC) and Euan McLaughlin (Fiddle). The project fuses the mystical energy and instruments of traditional Scottish music and Gaelic song with the heavy, meditative, driving basslines of dub music. Is pure energy and musicianship with a truly original sound. The Live Dub show is a chance to experience the musical realms of An Dannsa Dub in the soundsystem arena. The show is built around traditional dub mixing alongside live Flute and Violin combined with the experience of Tom Spirals on the mic. Having proved its effectiveness in the dance on an international level at events like Dub Camp, Goa Sunsplash & HIM Dub as well as many soundsystem shows and club nights, this is not to be missed.
